Under supervision

• The
Minister for Interior held frequent
meetings with all provincial governments
and others stakeholders to enhance
security and assured them of Federal
Government’s Support.
• Gratis acquisition
of Security / Protective equipment
from China.
• In the process of acquisition
of security equipment from China,
on a loan(US$180 million) extended
by Chinese Government.
• Obtained Rs. 400.00
million grant from China for procurement
of security equipment.
• Free of cost bulletproof
jackets obtained from France.
• In Camera briefing
was given to Parliamentarians by
Ministry of Interior on prevailing
security situation.
• Three Agreements on
counter terrorism are under process
with the Governments of Iran, UAE
and Malaysia.
• Visa Abolition Agreement
signed with Libya.
• Twelve Agreements on
Visa abolition are under process
with countries i.e. Guyana,
Brunei, Poland, South Africa, Malta
UAE, Ukraine, Ireland, Indonesia,
Bulgaria, Chili and Bolivia.
• An Extradition Treaty
has been signed with Libya.

• 16x Pakistani Prisoners
have been repatriated from Sri Lanka.
• 101x civilian police
officers have been deployed in various
UN peace missions in countries i.e.
East-Timore (UNMIT), Sudan (UNMIS),
Sudan (Darfur region) UNAMID and
Liberia (UNMIL).
• 65x personnel of Civil
Armed Forces have been deployed
in five UN Peacekeeping Missions
in Haiti-I, Haiti-II, Cote d’
Ivoire, Timor Leste and Darfur (Sudan)
• Conducted meetings
of Pak-UK Joint Working Group on
Counter- Terrorism, Strategic
communications, Capacity Building
of LEAs and stopping Terrorist Financing.
• Held Joint Working
Groups meetings with countries i.e.
Turkey, Thailand, Singapore, China
and Russia.
• Organized training
to officers of various government
departments through UK experts’
team on Mitigation of Man Portable
Air Defence System (MANPADs) threat.
• Conducted Pak-India
Composite Dialogue, Prepared Dossier
including involvement in terrorist
activities in Pakistan.
• Established Foreigners’
Security Cell, to coordinate security
of foreigners, especially Chinese
(10149), Koreans, Italians as well
as security of diplomats in Islamabad.
• Evolved a procedure
for keeping the government informed
through daily “Incident Reports”
pertaining to terrorism/law &
order.
• Compilation of computerized
data of acts of terrorism, terrorist
activities, apprehension of terrorists,
recovery of arms/ammunitions etc.

facility for a flight of 6 –
8 helicopters and one Cessna Grand
Caravan in the vicinity of Peshawar
for supporting, Army, FC (NWFP)/
Home Department and other beneficiaries.
• Induction of 20 GAU-17
guns and 30 advance version of Night
Vision Goggles (NVGs) for the pilots.
• Employment of additional
10 pilots on contract and their
training for the newly inducted
5 Huey – II helicopters, in
order to meet the existing deficiency
of pilots in 50 Aviation Squadron.
• An amount of Rs.7031.289
Million has been allocated for one
sixty-six projects in current financial
year (2009-10).
• An amount of Rs.1000.00
Million has been allocated (PSDP)
for a new project titled: “Provision
of Security Infrastructure in Malakand,
Swat and Other Conflict Areas of
NWFP”.
• ECNEC has approved
PC-I for the project titled: “Non
Intrusive X-ray Vehicle System (NVIS)”
under which two (02) fixed and two
(02) re-locatable X-ray scanners
will be purchased in the first phase
from China by end August,
2009.
